The Maharashtra Forest Department has left an indelible mark on history, with a remarkable initiative during the Tadoba Festival 2024, in Chandrapur. The department orchestrated the arrangement of 65,724 saplings of 26 different species, to spell out ‘Bharatmata’ – visible from above. This feat by the Forest Department has earned the state a Guinness World Record, under the title of ‘largest potted sapling word’ in the world.
About The Tadoba Festival 2024
Tadoba Festival 2024, held from March 1-3, 2024, was organised by the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), which aims to promote wildlife conservation. Additionally, the festival underscored the importance of sustainable tourism and highlighted the preservation of Maharashtra’s rich heritage as well.
This year, the festival witnessed a convergence of efforts towards the common goal of environmental stewardship. Further, this Guinness World Record bagged by Maharashtra follows the Assam Forest Department’s record-breaking ‘longest line of potted saplings’ in 2023.
