In an ambitious mission of the COVID vaccination drive, the Uttar Pradesh Health Department has targeted to administer the COVID jab to about 10 lakh people every day, across the state till the month of July. The state has received sufficient stocks from the Centre to undertake and achieve the target, read reports. Propelled under the scope of the state’s mega vaccination campaign, Mission June, this drive will ease the availability of the COVID shot for all.
Priority vaccination to boost target achievement in UP
The Additional Chief Secretary of Health has directed to conduct priority vaccination for people over the age of 45 years, with special sessions, in every district. Besides this, special ‘pink’ vaccination booths for women have also been established in every UP district to expedite the COVID immunity campaign. The Chief Minister has further given directions to schedule vaccination in double shifts across a few districts.
In another of the state’s grand scheme, the Health Department aims to vaccinate up to 10 crore people across UP within the course of the next 3 month – June, July, August. This has been pegged as doable in wake of the public enthusiasm for the anti-COVID jabs. The state recently crossed over the one million vaccination mark owing to this massive response and cooperations of the citizens.
The COWIN portal shows that all vaccination slots for this week are completely booked in Lucknow alone. As per reports, the bookings started at 10 AM on Sunday morning, where all slots were occupied within a record half an hour. In terms of numbers, around 1 lakh people were vaccinated in the state capital in mere 5 days.
