With the launch of ‘Amrit Yoga Saptah’ on Tuesday, the preparations for the 8th International Yoga Day have taken a grand shape in Lucknow. For the last two days, locals have occupied various sites at Residency, Raj Bhawan, Income Tax office and about 400 municipal parks to actively participate in practice sessions for the mass yoga event planned on Tuesday, June 21. This mega-show will be orchestrated across 2,200 city parks and sites, as the biggest such event in Lucknow as yet.

As decided by the Ministry of AYUSH, Yoga Day 2022 will be based on the theme “Yoga for Humanity”, with the idea of connecting the common man to Yoga. In wake of the same, the Lucknow administration has hired special trained Yoga instructors to launch special practice sessions across 400 municipal parks in the city. A mentor is assigned to each practice site, to promote the science and benefits of Yoga among locals.
About 120 yoga instructors have been provided by the LU, Amarjeet Yadav, Head of Department of Yoga at Lucknow University said. Besides, students and teachers affliated to the varsity are also teaching and training people in various aspects of Yoga, across educational institutes to keep the mission afloat.
The practice sessions are being conducted every day from 6 AM to 8 AM since Tuesday and will continue until June 20. All amenities for the same, such as water and sanitation are being provided by the LMC, added reports.
The main event on the Yoga Day (June 21) will be organized at Lucknow Residency and will witness participation from Union Ministers, state dignitaries, Lucknow University and locals alike.
