Under the umbrella of Uttar Pradesh’s Mission Shakti campaign, an archway of opportunities have been opened for girls who wish to course a career in the fields of civil services, army, police, air force, medical, engineering, among others. Enabled through the counselling camps called ‘Prashasan ki Pathshala’, female aspirants in the state will be guided to enrol in classes. As per reports, these camps will be organised in February across the state, under the direct authority of the district magistrates and other administrative officials.
‘Mission Shakti’ to provide Neeti for success!
The Mission Shakti, UP’s flagship women upliftment programme will draft a procedure to success, instituting several events and programmes. Besides the counselling ‘Pathshalas’, the state has decided to organise block and district level sports competitions, in February, to encourage girls students to actively participate in co-curricular activities. This will be accompanied by the prize distribution ceremony.
Additionally, from February 1 to 13, awareness about domestic violence act, dowry prohibition act, sexual harassment of women at workplace (prevention, prohibition and redressal) Act 2013, will be carried out through meetings, seminars, nukkad-nataks (street plays) and also one-on-one interactions.
Meanwhile, initiatives to promote dialogue will also be arranged. One such event, ‘Haq ki baat, jiladhikari ke sath’ is yet another initiative in which there will be two-hour interaction of the district magistrates with women regarding incidents of domestic violence, dowry, sexual harassment of women at the workplace, etc. Guidance and legal aids will be provided to these women, on a case to case basis. The interaction will be channelised by means of video conferencing, chaupals and meetings. These programmes too, will be organised at block and panchayat levels by the officials concerned.
Besides, there are also plans to connect 100 youth from each district with employment through coordination with commercial companies, government and non-government organisations, institutions and outsourcing agencies. This job-drive will later be extended by the police department to rescue and rehabilitate children involved in begging.
