In a move towards improving urban mobility, the Union Cabinet has given its final approval to Phase-1B of the Lucknow Metro project. This new 11.165 km East-West metro corridor, costing an estimated ₹5,801 crore, will connect key areas of Old Lucknow, including Charbagh and Vasant Kunj.
With seven underground and five elevated stations, it will cover high-density zones like Aminabad, Chowk, and Thakurganj, improving access to commercial, residential, and tourist hotspots like Bada Imambara, Rumi Darwaza, and King George Medical University.
2 lakh daily commuters to benefit with this expansion
Set to ease traffic congestion, this corridor is expected to handle two lakh additional commuters daily, significantly reducing travel time and enhancing connectivity across the city. It will link the new corridor to the existing North-South Metro, providing seamless transfers. The project, which is set to be completed within five years, aims to stimulate economic growth, encourage tourism, and improve the quality of life for residents.
