Lucknow implements traffic diversions for Chhath Puja festivities on Oct 27-28; check routes

The Lucknow Traffic Police has announced traffic diversions around Laxman Mela Ground for Chhath Puja celebrations on October 27–28, 2025. The major rituals, Sandhya Arghya (evening offerings) and Kosi filling, will take place on October 27, followed by Suryoday Arghya (morning offerings) on October 28.

Here’s what commuters need to know-

1. Hazratganj Area: Vehicles from Chiraiyajheel intersection will be rerouted via Saharaganj, Sikandar Bagh, Rana Pratap Marg, or Clark Avadh intersections.

2. Mahanagar Area: Traffic from Nadwa Bandha turn and Ekka Tonga Stand will be diverted away from Jhulelal Park via IT intersection, Subhash intersection, or Daliganj.

3. Chowk Area: Vehicles heading to Kudiyaghat via Rumigate or the concrete bridge will be redirected through alternate routes.

4. Qaiserbagh Bus Stand: Buses will take Burlington Square, Petrol Pump Tiraha, and Kunwar Jagdish Square, avoiding Chiraiyajheel Tiraha.

Emergency vehicles like ambulances, fire services, school vehicles, and hearses will be permitted on restricted routes. For assistance, citizens can contact the Traffic Control Room at 9454405155. Commuters are advised to plan their routes in advance and follow traffic updates to avoid delays.

A city-wide celebration with over 110 ghats

Chhath Puja will be celebrated at over 110 designated ghats across urban Lucknow, with arrangements for safety, cleanliness, and medical aid ensured at all major sites.

The ghats have been stunningly transformed into vibrant cultural hubs:

• Artistic Flair: Adorned with traditional vedis, Madhubani paintings, and colourful installations.

• Festive Lighting: Special illuminations create a picturesque riverside scene.

• Cultural Showcase: Over 200 artists will perform, turning the ghats into a dynamic stage for regional culture.
