The woes are significantly colossal for the needy and the kin of COVID-19 patients at city hospitals and other treatment facilities. While a number of tiffin services were initiated to placate the troubles of the pandemic-stricken, these two community kitchens in Lucknow have now been constituted to facilitate free, nutritious and hygienic cooked meals for all.
The Jiamau Community Kitchen
Set up by the Lucknow Nagar Nigam, this district-run community centre has emerged as a beneficial amenity for the COVID-19 patients in hospitals and their attendees or family members. As per reports, food is cooked here and then ferried in municipality vehicles to hospitals and other public places in Lucknow, where it is distributed for free to all.
Special care is undertaken to ensure that all food prepared and packed under premium hygienic care. The service is an extension of the district’s efforts to ensure that no person goes unfed while a global pandemic is raging across the nation.
The Marwari Community Kitchen
The community aid has been launched by a group of samaritans at Maharaja Agrasen Public School, located in the Motinagar area of Lucknow. As per reports, this service will remain operational till June 6 and will provide Marwari Thali (Marwari-style meal) to all at zero cost. The food prepared here is cooked at the school’s kitchen and then packed in covered plastic containers, to maximise protection against any kind of contamination.
