The Uttar Pradesh government has set the plans of setting a world record in motion. This year marks 100 years of the Chauri-Chaura incident, a milestone event of the Indian freedom struggle and in honour of the same, the UP government is attempting to bring 50,000 children from all 75 districts to recite ‘Vande Mataram’, the Indian National Song. As per the plan, school students, in large strengths will sing the song from 10 a.m on February 3 to 12 noon on February 4.
UP’s extravagant tribute to Chura Chauri martyrs
The state of Uttar Pradesh has prepared for an extravagant tribute to honour the centenary celebrations of the Chaura Chauri incident. Breaking the previous set record of 20,000 people, UP is now bringing together 50,000 people, more than double of the established record, to sing Vande Mataram. With this step, the authorities wish to lodge the state’s name into the chronicles of the Guinness Book of World Records.
As part of the preparations, thousands of students are making their videos by reciting the first stanza of ‘Vande Mataram’ while standing in the salute pose. They are required to send these clips to their respective schools, after which these videos will be uploaded on a link that will be made available by the Guinness Book of World Records.
From Lucknow, students from City Montessori chain of schools, the biggest educational institute by pupil count in the world, will be a part of this attempt. Founder Jagdish Gandhi said that a large number of CMS students, from all campuses, will recite ‘Vande Mataram’ in a bid to enter the record books on Chauri Chaura Diwas on February 4.
The Guinness world record team has already shared the link for all schools. The videos can be uploaded until by February 4 till 12 noon. Following this, they will assess the videos and after verification, issue a certificate.
The district inspector of schools (DIoS), has held meetings with principals in this regard. Additional chief secretary (secondary education), stated, “We are expecting a large number of videos from schools across UP.” The UP Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad has asked principals of secondary schools to prepare students for the exercise. They have been asked to ensure that the chosen students learn ‘Vande Mataram’ and are able to recite the same flawlessly with the correct pronunciation.
