IBM (International Business Machines Corp.), the US IT giant often referred to as “Big Blue”, plans to open a new Software Lab in Lucknow to develop generative and agentic AI technologies. The state-of-the-art facility will be located at Platinum Mall in Sushant Golf City, an upcoming project currently under construction.
In response to the rapidly evolving global demand for AI-powered solutions, the new IBM lab will focus on developing such technologies. It will work on curating both Large Language Models (LLMs) and Small Language Models (SLMs), tailored to business-specific needs across India and beyond.
Vishal Chahal, Vice President, IBM India Software Labs, said, “Innovation will be the key driver of disruption, and Lucknow is emerging as a vibrant hub with the right talent and ecosystem to fuel this transformation. Welcoming the development, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister stated that IBM’s new software lab in Lucknow is expected to boost the state’s economy, by creating jobs and leveraging local talent.
