Ahead of the mass vaccination programme in Lucknow, the District Magistrate on Sunday decided to buckle up preparations at the mega vaccination centres in the city. As per reports, the administration is aiming to inoculate about 11,000 citizens via these large scale units at the Chota Imambara, Ekana Stadium and KD Singh Babu Stadium here. Further directives have also been issued to ensure other facilities including drinking water, toilets, parking, pick up and drop bus service for women, the elderly and the differently-abled and even selfie points.
Medical backup at vaccination centres
In a meeting of District Officials on Sunday, the DM directed to set up provisional medical centres at each mega vaccination facility in Lucknow. As per orders, the medical cells at KD Singh Babu Stadium and Chota Imambara have to accommodate 4 oxygenated beds. Similarly, 8 such oxygen beds will be made available at the Ekana cricket ground as well.
Besides this, the nearest hospital to each centre has been authorised to provide aid during any medical emergency. Accordingly, the administration has designated Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (Civil) Hospital for KD Singh Babu Stadium, KGMU for Chota Imamabara and Medanta Hospital for Ekana Stadium as centres of medical backup. The Regional Ambulance Officer has also been tasked to prepare two ambulances at Ekana and one each at the other two centres to ferry people in emergency cases to the health centres.
Other provisions at the mega vaccination sites
The DM has also ordered to ensure arrangement for biomedical waste disposal, sanitation and sanitisation at all mega vaccination centres. As per protocols, the Municipal Corporation has been tagged to conduct mechanical sanitation before and after the campaign activities at the mega vaccination centres. Along with this, portable machines will also be deployed at these provisional units to carry out continuous sanitisation.
Special provisions and schedules have also been mapped for the free pick and drop bus facilities to these centres. These services will ferry women, the elderly and the specially-abled from rural areas of the district to the mega centres. These buses will be authorised to pick up and drop citizens from the scheduled pick-up points at zero cost. About 20 such points or bus stops will be allocated across the urban areas and 6 buses will be provided to each tehsil.
The number of buses running to each centre has also been finalised; 8 to Ekana Stadium, 8 to KD Singh Babu Stadium and 4 to Chota Imamabara. Each bus service will have to imperatively appoint one female and one male staff. For other safety concerns, 20 women and 20 male constables will be deployed at the Ekana Stadium while 10 female constable and 10 male constables will also keep a watch at KD Singh Babu Stadium and Chota Imambara. Two traffic constables and one SI will also be instated at each mega facility to regulate traffic movement.
