Parents of school goers in the state are heaving sighs of relief as the the Rajasthan High Court on Thursday, stayed the order issued by a single judge, directing schools to collect only 70% of the actual tuition fees. A division bench of the Rajasthan High Court comprising of Chief Justice Inderjit Mahanti and Justice Mahendra Goyal, also directed the private schools to waive off their fees till the 9th of October.

A plea filed by advocate Sunil Samadaria is being addressed by the court and the next hearing is slated for Monday. The state government, which is also a part of the appeal, said that the single bench’s decision to collect 70% tuition fees from the parents was baseless and there are no good reasons for this decision.
As per the appellants, the administration of the private schools fixed the tuition fees in violation of the RTE Act, disobeying all norms of fee regulations. The claimants argued that the private schools did not give details to the court of the amount they had spent in schools during the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, the order of the single bench should be repealed. Additional Advocate General Rajesh Maharshi, who spoke on the behalf of the government, mentioned that no schools can collect fees from the parents, in accordance with the rules publicized on Thursday.
A single bench of the high court had issued an interim order on the 7th of September, stating that schools can collect 70% of the tuition fees in 3 instalments. Petitions pertaining to it, have been submitted by the Society of Catholic Education Institutions in Rajasthan, the Progressive School Association and others.
Govt. schools to follow summer time-table

The government-funded schools will follow their summer time-table which requires the pupils to be in attendance from 7.30 AM to 1 PM.
