Perturbed by the unprecedented rise of COVID-19 cases in Jaipur, the Pink City’s law enforcement body will adopt an iron fist to ensure the enforcement of COVID-19 norms and protocols. Consequently, punitive actions will be taken against people flouting safety protocols to arrest and repress the coronavirus spread. The general public must comply with all norms, such as wearing a mask and maintaining social distance or face consequences, read reports.
The Pink City Police vs The Pandemic
Earlier, the Chief Minister had also warned of the enforcement of stringent measures, if the public does not respect the established protocols. Similarly, the DCP in Jaipur has been tasked with ensuring district-level implementation of the safety guidelines and norms. He can also take disciplinary actions, if need be.
In Jaipur, the police will change its lenient approach and go tough and strict against people not following public protocols. A senior official of the Jaipur Police Commissionerate informed that in January and February, the law enforcement was far more sparing but that will morph soon, given the rapid rise of new coronavirus infections here.
Special Police teams to ensure implementation of COVID norms in Jaipur
To further this, special police forces will be deployed at crowded places and markets in Jaipur to govern the public actions with respect to COVID protocols. They will also be penalised for not wearing a mask or not keeping enough safe distance. These corrective measures are being imposed in order to prevent the situation of another lockdown. The senior official of the police also informed that everybody faced a difficult time in the lockdown which is why it is essential to follow the guidelines, without laxity.
On Monday, Jaipur’s COVID tallies surged by 148 new cases, mounting the active caseload to 838 patients here. With this latest addition, the Pink City has reported as many as 60,593 cases, the highest across Rajashthan. Recovery stands at 59,235 cases while 520 have succumbed to the virus.
