In an attempt to make runways at Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport fit for landing large aircraft like Boeing 777, authorities have started the construction to expand the runway. And to smoothly take forward the manoeuvrability of flights and construction work, state airport authorities have halted all operations at night for 2 months. The expansion work has started on Sunday that was supposed to start on April 1.

The construction work will take place from 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM every night, impacting the flight timings. And since there aren’t many flights that operate during these hours, not many flights will be affected by it. Flights bound to Pune and Delhi and one international flight bound to Dubai only got affected due to these changes.
The new timings for the flights bound to Pune and Delhi will run during the day time and the flight bound to Dubai will now arrive in Indore at 8:30 PM. As per reports, the runway expansion work is to be completed in next 2 months, however it may extend depending upon the some unspecified reasons.
