Administrative officials’ mental health and physical resilience have been severely dented during the second swell of the pandemic. Keeping in mind their overall well-being, the Goa government will conduct online training sessions to boost immunity and promote the welfare of the government servants. These sessions will be done in association with the Art of Living Foundation and it is expected that it will help the trainees in overcoming COVID related challenges, as they perform their duties.
Online classes for a 3-day period
On Wednesday, a circular has been issued by the General Administration Department of Goa which states that the online classes will happen over a period of three days. All bureaucrats and government staff will be trained to overcome health-related challenges so that they can “perform duties with energy and valour”.
It has been noted that this is a specialised programme that will help non-COVID and positive (mild or moderate) individuals. Further, it will also aid in post-infection recovery through Covid Care programmes that will boost immunity, improve lung capacity, better mental health, reduce stress and engage these individuals in yogasanas.
These sessions are a welcome move as the latest research has shown that yoga teachers and therapists have been successfully working with patients to mitigate their illness and related complexities. It has been stated by research published in standard journals that “breath control” techniques similar to Ujjayi and pranayama practices ease chronic coughing and breathlessness.
