Modern solutions, including these vigilant drones, are being deployed to scour the city’s nooks and crannies, pinpointing issues like littered waste dumps, road damage, traffic bottlenecks, and violations. The initiative is a pivotal component of the city’s larger Smart City project, aiming to cover the entire urban expanse within a mere three months.
Crackdown on unauthorized ride-hailing services in Ahmedabad
On November 6 and 7, the Ahmedabad Regional Transport Office (RTO) collaborated with the city’s traffic police to execute a comprehensive crackdown operation. The operation focused on curbing the unauthorized usage of non-transport vehicles within Ahmedabad, a trend primarily observed among ride-sharing giants such as OLA, Uber, and Rapido.
During this two-day drive, the Ahmedabad RTO collected a substantial sum of ₹99,500 in fines. The fines were imposed on individuals who had transgressed the ‘Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guideline 2020,’ highlighting the use of non-compliant vehicles by OLA, Uber, and Rapido drivers.
Railways respond to festive surge with Special Trains
As the festive season sweeps in, the demand for railway transportation experiences a significant upsurge. To cater to this growing passenger need, the Western Railway has announced the introduction of special festival trains connecting Ahmedabad with Patna and Delhi.
This timely expansion in the train network elevates the count of special trains on the Western Railway to an impressive 44. With the addition of 344 extra coaches, these newly introduced trains are anticipated to serve approximately 25,000 passengers, ensuring a smoother and more convenient travel experience during this bustling season.
