Aiming to ensure encroachment-free campuses for the government hospitals in the city, the district administration of Lucknow has initiated a special drive for this purpose. As a part of this initiative, a region of about 40 to 50 metres around the entrances of public hospitals will be made free from any kind of intrusions, within a span of 7 days. Additionally, the municipal corporation will also undertake steps for the removal of illegal hoardings, banner/posters and kiosks in the city.

According to reports, the District Magistrate stated that the ambulances are faced with umpteen problems, at the gates of the hospitals. Due to encroachments at the entrances, the vehicular movements are stalled and this blocks the way for ambulances too. This has become a regular event, making it necessary for the officials to take stringent measures. Reportedly, shops, juice and fruit vendors, small-time eateries and other similar establishments occupy the areas usually.

Now, the latest scheme has been started to alleviate the issues at both rural and urban hospitals. As per reports, Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) and the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will mark troubled locations in the urban areas and they will be cleared of encroachments within a period of 7 days. In addition to this, similar interventions will be executed in the rural regions too.
Lucknow Municipal corporation will also work on measures to remove unauthorised hoardings from the roads and crossings in the city. Under this campaign, a team of individuals will spot areas and then, the required action will be taken. Here, it is important to acknowledge that the local governing bodies must keep a check on the prevalent issues. Only when proactive measures are taken to resolve the problems that the welfare of the citizens can be assured.
