Bringing a fresh blossom in February for the residents of Lucknow, a fascinating flower fair has made its way to the Governor House in the city. Adorned with some of the choicest varieties of flowers, the lawns of Lucknow’s Raj Bhawan have become a spectacular hub of a captivating range of flora. Not only flowers but the surprising types of fruits and vegetables being displayed here will also leave you completely enthralled!
Witnessing participation by produce from a multitude of gardens
The scenic exhibition of flowers, fruits and vegetables, being organised by the horticulture department of the Uttar Pradesh Government, has welcomed beautiful produce from city parks, university lawns, house gardens amongst others. A number of housewives and elite households from across the city and the state have also participated in the event with home-grown varieties of flowers. Organised for the first time in 1936, the annual fair has successfully garnered appreciation from the city folks through the recent years in the past.
An interesting competition between the gardens of various public offices
Before the fair opened its gates for the public, the exhibits of flower pots, vegetables, ornamental and medicinal plants, fruits, vegetables, processed foods, flower decoration and cut flowers were judged on their quality, appeal and innovation. The produce from the gardens of various government organisations like NTPC, HAL, RDSO, Raj Bhawan, CM House, Northern Railways and others competed against each other for bagging the first prize. One of the many highlights of the event is that it brings to display, fruits and vegetables grown by jail inmates. Also, the presentation of jams and jellies, produced from a range of different fruits shall definitely leave you wondering for a long time, if you could get a pack back home!
