Most of the citizens who were out on the streets in Lucknow on Tuesday with their cars and bikes, faced a halt in their journey at major flyovers/bridges. The concerned authorities had deployed police forces at strategic locations and drivers and riders in motion, were all stopped for random checking.
The personnel involved, checked for masks, pollution certificates and other official documents, which are required to be carried by all. This venture specifically witnessed motorcyclists being singled out and the ones without helmets, were further tackled in stringent manners,
Action against law violators
Although there has not been any specific reason for such an action, it is not clearly stated whether the police personnel will be carrying out this way of policing even today or in the coming days. So citizens are advised to carry their papers and other required items which would give them a green signal when stopped at checking points. Items should include driving/riding license, masks, pollution papers, sanitizers, insurance certificate and so on.
A rider who was stopped at the Gomti Nagar Marine Drive flyover, stated, “I have been stopped twice by now- earlier at the another flyover and later at the MD flyover. The cops are checking all the documents thoroughly and are also tackling the residents who are not wearing masks, in a strict way. It’s good to see that the police forces are implementing all the directives, be it the traffic rules or the Covid protocols, in an effective manner.”
