A depression moving westward from the Bay of Bengal is anticipated to bring substantial rainfall to central and western Indian states over the next three to four days, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Ahmedabad on Monday, with light rain expected in the city today. The forecast for September 3, 4, and 5 predicts a generally cloudy sky with moderate rainfall in Ahmedabad.
Junior doctors begin strike today for stipend hike
More than 1,500 resident doctors across six govt, municipality, and GMERS hospitals have initiated a strike from today, demanding a 40% increase in their stipend. The strike, which involves junior doctors from the state, follows a month of discussions that only resulted in a 20% hike.
Hospital authorities warn that the strike will likely disrupt hundreds of outpatient departments (OPDs) and scheduled surgeries.

CM orders urgent highway repairs in Gujarat
In response to the damage caused by heavy rains, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has instructed the Road Construction Department to expedite the repair of highways. Of the 116,000 km of roads under the department’s jurisdiction, 3,610 km have been affected.
The government has set a deadline of September 7 for the repair of main district roads and September 15 for rural roads. Temporary repairs using dry metal and cold mix asphalt are already underway, with permanent fixes planned once weather conditions stabilize.
