Given the controlled situation of the COVID pandemic in Uttar Pradesh, the Chief Minister has now allowed the resumption of classes for 6-8 from February 10, based on the recommendations of the Basic Education Department. Following suit, the gates of the primary schools for pupils of class 1 to 5, shall be opened from March 1.
Students to flock to their school campuses after almost a year

The schools have been closed for the past 10 months since March 2020, when the first lockdown got imposed. Offline classes were permitted for 9th to 12th standard pupils, from October 19 last year. According to the orders released by the Education Department, all public and private schools shall be opened for the students in a phased manner.
While the department is currently deciding on the number of students to be allowed on day one, around 3.8 crore students of primary and upper primary classes shall flock to their respective government and private school campuses almost after a year.
Complete adherence to COVID-19 safety precautions
The government has mandated the educational institutes to ensure that the teaching staff and the students follow all restrictions and guidelines in relation to COVID-19. The schools are directed to make provisions for sanitisation of the campuses before the commencement and after every shift. In addition to this, proper arrangements for thermal scanning, masks, social distancing and first aid have to be made in advance.
While the schools had been conducting offline classes, the education sector suffered losing out on recreational programmes and co-curricular activities for students. With the resumption of offline classes, the comprehensive academic curriculum followed by schools will be back on track.
Government schools across the state revamped during the COVID closure
During the closure caused by the pandemic, a number of government schools have improved their facilities. Not only have the schools got new washrooms but the handwashing amenities have been bettered too, with added handwash dispensers. In addition to this, teaching resources have been enhanced and the ambience of the schools has been amplified with beautiful paintings. Given the measures taken by the authorities, students shall be back to their schools with an improved environment.
