The Lucknow Metro resumed its services from the 7th of September after an extensive halt due to the outbreak of the pandemic and fast forward to December, this public transport system has picked up pace in the city, similar to its pre-COVID ridership. Earlier in December, Lucknow Metro was seen running in full capacity with more than 31,000 passengers on board within a day’s time. This corresponded to about 50% of the total number of passengers travelling in the metro before the pandemic took over.
Travel smart with Go Smart Card
Further to make the services safer for the citizens who commute via the metro, the authorities have been promoting the Go Smart Card for a contactless travel experience. This cuts short on the queues for the tokens and helps in maintaining the required distance. UPMRC has even laid down prime emphasis on hygiene which includes the usage of ultraviolet lights for disinfecting surfaces and installing touch-free foot pedals, to make sure that the highest standards of cleanliness are met seamlessly. The on-ground operational staff are also equipped with gloves, masks and sanitisers, to arrest any spread of the contagious coronavirus.

The metro services have also made life convenient for commuters, especially during this season when the winds are biting cold and thick fog blankets the night, detering citizens from travelling late and via public transport. Metro with its protocols and systems, enables Lucknowites to travel without the worries of transmission of the contagious coronavirus, which is the major focus these days.
