Strengthening women’s safety and security has always been one of the topmost priorities for Lucknow Police. Adding to the initiatives, the Lucknow Police Commissioner had recently launched a helpline number 9454400290 for addressing the safety concerns of women in the city. As per reports, the latest facility has garnered significant attention from the city folks, solving an array of issues within the first few days of its launch.
Quick efforts by Lucknow Police to solve all issues

The Lucknow CP, Dr. D.K. Thakur had initiated the helpline number and an alternative email-ID [email protected] on February 6. This new facility is not only aimed at protecting the women but is also welcoming advice from the public. Within the first 3 days of its commencement, it registered 80 calls, 50 of which were related to domestic violence and other issues while the remaining 30 came up with suggestions.
While all domestic matters were resolved quickly, the police implemented significant measures in one case. A student from Kaisarbagh had complained of being eve-teased on her way to college. Taking cognisance of this, the police caught the trouble-making boys in a few hours and deployed two constables on the concerned street, where the girl was harassed. Additionally, it was also stated that two women constables in civil clothes would be deployed, if the need arises.
All cases being monitored by the Commissioner himself
It has been ensured that the identity and dignity of all women complainants stand protected while solving their problems. Depending on the gravity of the issue, the department informs the concerned authorities, who then take quick actions. It is remarkable that the Commissioner himself is keeping an eye on all calls received through this facility daily.
Through this initiative the Lucknow Policies trying to chalk out areas that are hotspots for troubles and issues regarding women’s safety. The department has requested the women in the city to acquaint them with all their problems without any fear. Given the current circumstances, where women’s safety is crippled often, such initiatives have become the need of the hour.
