Amid fears and anticipations of an impending third wave, Kapoorthala Jama Masjid in Lucknow is scaling up its stocks of the essentials needed to combat the pandemic. As a part of this program, the Masjid committee is setting up inventories to ensure sufficient availability of masks, mini oxygen cylinders and other medical amenities, including the requirements of kids. Additionally, the officials have also decided to rope in pediatricians who would assist in dealing with the effects of third-wave on children.
Amplified efforts across all areas of need
Alerted by the expected effects of third-wave on children, the Masjid authorities have converged their efforts towards assuring ample medical facilities for them. While the establishment has 2 ambulances under its supervision, the management is trying to procure an additional vehicle soon. In addition to this, the Masjid officials are also involved in the process of identifying areas of need, to plan and execute streamlined programs.
Besides having a stock of 20 oxygen cylinders, the Masjid committee has also purchased mini oxygen cylinders, that may be required by the children. It has been stated that mini oxygen cylinders come with the convenience of portability, so they can be used easily. Further, the count of oxygen concentrators has been amplified to 15, with an aim to augment the scope of aid interventions.
Multiple welfare programs by the Masjid committee to help the needy
During the second wave of the pandemic, the Masjid Committee started an initiative for free of cost provisioning of ration kits, medicines, oxygen resources to the deprived and the needy. While over 500 people have been provided with food supplies, jumbo oxygen cylinders have been given to 300 individuals till now. Through its varied welfare programs, the Masjid management has not only helped citizens from Lucknow but also ensured aid to people from other cities, including Aligarh, Gonda, Bahraich, Barabanki.
In addition to this, free ambulance and hearse services were also initiated by the Masjid authorities. An official from the committee informed that the free ambulance facility has been successful in rescuing nearly 70 patients to date and the number of beneficiaries continues to increase.

While the Masjid committee is attempting to leave no stone unturned in its battle against the pandemic, it has also asked the devotees to pool their resources for this purpose.
