After two cases of the Zika virus that surfaced on Friday in Lucknow, another new case of this mosquito-borne disease has been reported today. The administration is undertaking various preventive measures in the city to contain the spread any further. According to the officials, two locations in Hussainganj and one in Aliganj area have been declared as containment zones.
500 teams set up for Zika surveillance

Apart from marking containment zones in the hotspots, sanitisation work is also being carried out in the district to control the spread of this vector-borne disease. Moreover, special wards for the treatment of Zika virus patients have been formed in eight government hospitals across Lucknow. Special helpline number of integrated COVID Command Centre 0522 452300 has also been issued by the administration today. Additionally, 500 teams dedicated to surveillance have been formed to combat the spread.
While the authorities are taking steps to curb the growth of these cases in the city, the citizens must be on alert mode too. Prime hygiene standards need to be maintained to prevent mosquito breeding. Addressing the issue, the District Collector assured that the city has enough resources to fight this virus including medicines and doctors.
