Amid the rapid spread of dengue in Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow has reported the maximum number of cases this year with a current tally of over 575 cases. Reportedly, 36 new dengue cases were detected in the city on October 13. The surge in cases even after the implementation of mitigation and preventive measures, is a cause of concern for the authorities.
Over 400 cases registered in the past 45 days

Even though Uttar Pradesh’s capital has been reporting dengue cases since January, a visible spike has been noted since August. Of the total cases detected till now, around 86% have been recorded in the past 42 days. According to stats, this counts to approximately 495 cases in the months of September and October. Amongst the new cases reported on Wednesday, 48% are women, whereas men and teenagers account for 40% and 12% cases, respectively.
Faizullaganj is the highest affected area

Most of the fresh surge is recorded from the existing caseload areas like Aliganj, Gomtinagar, Tudiyaganj, Alambagh, Gudamba, Sarojninagar, Ashiyana, Chinhat, Indiranagar, Mahanagar, Vikas Nagar, Para, Raiebareli Road and Kakori. However, Faizullaganj has witnessed the highest dengue patients this season.

Chief Medical Officer, Manoj Agrawal said, “We are doing extensive mosquito control activities, especially in high caseload areas. Besides, under the infectious diseases control programme, health workers are going door to door to spread awareness and distribute medical kits.”
Simultaneously, 2713 locations in Gomti Nagar, Balaganj, Mallahi Tola, Nishatganj and other localities were surveyed, out of which larvae was detected in 27 localities. While authorities are working round the clock to make sure that the situation gets under control, locals must also be on alert and must ensure proper disposal of waste.
