The state of Madhya Pradesh has a grand total of four excellence schools in the state, one of which stands in the district of Indore. Though 6 more city institutions were suggested for an excellence upgrade under the state’s initiative to increase their number, the School Education department has approved only 3, out of which only one will be sanctioned for the excellence ascent.

Currently, Indore has only one excellence school – Bal Vinay Mandir is the only establishment in the entire district at present. In a bid to improve the student body results, the State School Department has taken a decision to raise the number of excellence schools from 4 to 8, and with this, another school is in pipeline for the district of Indore, raising the school count to 2.
Assistant District Programme Coordinator (ADPC) from Indore shared a list of 6 schools, including all-girls institutions of Sharda Kanya and Ahilya Ashram, that were drafted in the list to the school department. The ADPC further pointed out that these were ‘fairly good’ schools. Amongst these educational institutions, 3 were selected by the state and now 1 out of these 3 would be further be developed as a school of excellence under the state authority.
This scheme is applicable to the districts of Bhopal, Jabalpur and Gwalior as well, that house the state’s remaining 3 schools of excellence. Besides Indore, one establishment from each of these districts would be selected by the school education department and will be transformed to the excellence rise.
What is an Excellence School?
Any institution that records and marks distinctions against a set of values that students aim to achieve is called an excellence school. The outcome of this ethical initiative establishes a system that makes academics, research and overall education meaningful and moral. Further, these distinct schools have the infrastructure and caliber to monitor, plan and report student performances, involvement of parents and the over-all impact on the pupil body effectively.
