The language and the purest pronunciation is one thing for which we owe a lot to Lucknow. Our Hindi & Urdu pronunciation sets us a class apart and gives others a reason to envy us. More than the “Aap” and “hum” which has entered our sub conscious mind, it is the right understanding of Hindi and Urdu and how to use both these languages to create a stunning dialect.

The Bollywood biggie, Javed Akhtar, gives credits to Lucknow, for his knowledge of Urdu, and this is what he said, “In the 1990s, songs were written around an already composed tune for a ready situation in a film. I was once asked to write an `aarti’ around a situation in the film and the director was surprised to see several names I had used for Lord Krishna. When the director asked me how come I knew so much, I said it’s because (a) I have studied Urdu and (b) I belong to Lucknow.”

Bollywood actress, who did his initial schooling from Lucknow, Aahana Kumra in an exclusive telephonic interview to Knocksense said, “I moved to Mumbai, when I was 13-years-old. In no time, I started representing my school in elocution and other co-curricular activities because of my grab on the pronunciation of both Hindi and English language.”
