IMD predicts week-long rainfall in Ahmedabad
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a week of rainfall for Ahmedabad, with light to moderate showers expected. On August 1, the city is likely to experience a generally cloudy sky with light rain, and temperatures ranging from 26°C to 28°C.
From August 2-3, moderate rain is anticipated, with consistent temperatures. The city may see rain or thundershowers on August 4 and 5.
AMC seals food stalls at Kankaria Lakefront
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has sealed five food stalls at Kankaria Lakefront following incidents of food contamination, including a customer finding insects in tomato sauce. AMC’s food department has been actively inspecting both large and small eateries to ensure food safety standards are met.
Surge in international passenger traffic at SVPI Airport
Ahmedabad Airport has experienced a significant increase in international passenger traffic, particularly during the summer vacation period. Between April and June 2024, 533,067 international passengers travelled through the airport, compared to 432,762 in the same period last year, marking a 23% increase.
Meanwhile, domestic passenger traffic saw a slight rise, with 25,92,318 passengers recorded this year, up from 24,90,646 last year, representing a 4% growth.
