The central government has issued a notification announcing that as many as 58 citizen-centric services related to vehicle registration, transfer of permits and more can now be availed online with the help of Aadhaar number authentication. Aimed at reducing the foot count at Regional Transport Offices (RTO), the initiative will also save precious time.

Non Aadhaar holders will have to visit RTOs
The online service will provide a contactless platform and help save critical time of the citizens. Consequently, the footfall at the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) is likely to reduce, which would help to increase the efficiency in RTO’s functioning.
According to the notification issued by the ministry on September 16, any person who still does not have an Aadhaar number, can physically visit the regional office and show alternate ID proof to avail the services.

Before the recent government notification, the online facility was available for only eighteen services. However, now, with fifty-eight such grass roots solutions available online, the need to physically visit the RTOs has been eliminated.
