The Jaipur railway station recently received the ‘Eat Right Station’ certificate, which is valid till July 26th, 2024, from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). With this, it became the first such station not only in Rajasthan, but in the North Western Railway as a whole to receive the title.
Hard work behind the curtains pays off
67 vendors at the Jaipur Railway Station were trained specially in preparation for this certificate, reports stated. They were trained in keeping hygienic, contaminant free and licensed food.
Special SOPs were issued to be followed by everyone (vendors and passengers) at the station. Food was prepared at live counters, while keeping in mind the quality of garnishes, water and other food standards. Officials of the Food Safety Commissionerate and North Western Railway worked together to make it the only station in the region with this certificate.

What is ‘Eat Right Station’ Certification?
The ‘Eat Right Station’ certification is awarded by FSSAI to railway stations that set benchmarks in providing safe food to passengers.
The station is awarded a certificate upon the conclusion of an FSSAI-empanelled third-party audit agency with ratings from 1 to 5. Measures like disposal of cooking oil from restaurants and other cleanliness parameters are checked as part of this initiative.
Mumbai Central railway station was the first to be certified by FSSAI as the country’s ‘Eat Right Station’. Anand Vihar Terminal Railway Station (Delhi), Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (Mumbai), Chandigarh Railway Station and Vadodara Railway Station are other railway stations with the certification.
