The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup has finally unleashed its highly anticipated India tour, igniting a blazing trail of cricket fervor across the nation. With showdowns happening in 10 different city venues across India, fans from different towns will be able to witness the exhilarating matches, where international cricket’s titans will set the stage ablaze.
The BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow which is one of the venues, is also set to host a total of 5 World Cup matches. Tickets for matches involving foreign teams at Ekana Stadium still available
According to the released fixtures, Lucknow will be hosting it’s initial WC match on October 12, featuring a clash between Australia and South Africa. Additionally, Ekana Stadium will serve as the venue for four more exciting matches, including the much-awaited, India vs England on October 29.
The other fixtures scheduled at Ekana Stadium are the Australia vs. Sri Lanka match on Oct 16, the Netherlands vs. Sri Lanka match on Oct 21 and the Netherlands vs. Afghanistan match on Nov 3. Tickets for these matches are still available for purchase on BookMyShow.
Accommodation prices tripled in Lucknow around the matches
Meanwhile, as for the Ind vs Engl match in Lucknow, the ticket sale went live on September 1 and were completely sold out within just one hour. Now, as the city prepares to host this exciting series of matches, it anticipates welcoming visitors from across the country and even from abroad who are eager to witness the games.
Consequently, hotel prices, both for upscale hospitality establishments and others, have seen a significant increase during the match dates. Many rooms in the city’s top hotels are already booked, particularly around the Ind vs Eng match. Furthermore, in properties where accommodations are still available, rates have surged to as much as three times the usual average prices.
Given the current situation, there is a potential for an accommodation shortage between October and November due to the influx of a large number of tourists.
